3 JMB operatives held in city

DHAKA, Police arrested three operatives of the banned militant outfit of the Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) along with commando knives and explosives from the city's Kamlapur area.

We arrested three JMB men, Abdul Hakim, Noman and Shafi and seized 30

commando knives, one double edge, 30 TID containers and 1.5 kilograms of

explosives from Kamlapur Rail Station area around 8pm on Wednesday, said a

police official.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed their link to the

militant organization saying that Abdul Hakim is chief of JMB's Cox's Bazar

region, while Shafi military chief of the region, he said, adding that all of

the arrestees are the residents of Cox's Bazar.

Quoting the arrestees, he also said that the JMB men had a plan of

carrying out target killing centering the 11th national election as well as

subversive acts at Cox's Bazar on 31st night.
