Around 200 char farmers received flood -tolerant high-yielding Aman paddy seeds invented by Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA).
Member of the Management Council and General Secretary of district Awami League (AL) Advocate Muazzem Hossen Babul distributed the seeds as chief guest in the Kachree area here on Friday.
Director General of BINA D Mirza Mufazzel Hossen, Project Director Shahidul Islam, Scientific Officer Shamiul Haque, Office Secretary of District AL Abu Syed Deen, Scientists of BINA, officials and local public representatives were present.
BINA sources said the seeds of BINA varieties known as BiNA dhan 11, 16 and 17 have been distributed among two hundred Char farmers in Sadar upazila free of cost.
Each farmer received 10 kg of Aman seeds for cultivation of Aman paddy in Brahmaputra Char area under the Sadar upazila.
