Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have detained two members of a human trafficking gang from Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah while trafficking a 15-year-old girl to India.

The detainees were Hasan, 18, of Munshiganj and Shamim alias Rakib, 18, of Chandpur.

BGB members later handed over the duo along with the rescued girl to Fatulla Model police station on Tuesday, said Sheikh Rezaul Haque Dipu, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fatulla Model police station.

Earlier, the victim’s father filed a missing complaint at the police station Sunday night.

The girl used to work in a garment factory where she developed love affair with her colleague Roni and planned to elope with him.

On Sunday, as per their plan Rony’s associate Hasan picked her up from the garment’s gate and on their way Rakib joined them on a bus to Jhenaidah.

Efforts are on to arrest ‘mastermind’ Rony, said the OC.
