DHAKA- State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Md Moshiur Rahman Ranga today said over one crore people of 1.88 lakh cooperatives societies are contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
"The government is contemplating to give more Taka one thousand crore in addition to their own capital of around Taka 12,000 crore at upazila central cooperatives societies considering their contribution to the national economy," he told a seminar held at the Institution Engineers' of Bangladesh auditorium here.
Bangladesh National Rural Development Cooperatives Federation arranged the seminar marking its 32nd annual conference.
Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Acting Secretary Ananda Chandra Biswas, Director Generals of Bangladesh Rural Development Board, Cooperatives Directorate and Rural Development Academy, Bogra, Md. Abdul Mazid and MA Matin respectively, Vice President of the federation Khandakar Biplob Mahmud Ujjal and labour leader Nurul Haque, among others, spoke.
President of the federation Md Israfil Alam presided.
