DHAKA, Jan 08, 2017 (BSS)-The Directorate of Drug Administration has sealed off a total of 16 counterfeit drugs producing factories and seized a huge quantity of fake and unregistered drugs equivalent to Taka 16 crore last year.
The directorate and mobile courts realized over Taka 6 crore from the owners of the already closed down 16 factories and 20 pharmacies after it found them guilty of producing and selling spurious and unregistered drugs, said an official of the directorate.
Over 2000 cases have so far been lodged and 52 persons have been sentenced to different jail terms to this end, the official said.
The drive against the spurious drugs will be intensified, and all possible measures will be taken to follow the approved the Drug Policy, he added.
