Customs officials on Tuesday night seized gold chains and bars weighing 14 kilograms worth about Taka 7 crore from a cargo plane at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The seizure included 18 gold bars, 13 of them weighing one kilogramme each and five others 100 grammes each and 183 gold chains, assistant commissioner HM Ahsanul Kabir of Dhaka Customs House told BSS today.
Customs officials recovered the gold from after a cargo plane of Singapore Airlines (SQ-446) landed at the Shahjalal airport around 10.45 pm on Tuesday, he also said.
The estimated cost of the seized 14 kilogrammes gold is Taka 7 crore, he said, adding that none was however arrested to this end.
Legal action was taken in this regard.
