100 illegal structures evicted in Ctg city

CHATTOGRAM Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) in a

special drive today evicted a total of 50 illegal structures erected on the

both banks of the port city canals.

The eviction drive led by CDA special magistrate Saiful Islam in

cooperation with engineering corps of Bangladesh Army started the drive at

Jamal Khan and Firingibazar canals under Kotwali thana this afternoon.

The team bulldozed over 100 illegal structures, including one nine-storied,

two six-storied, two three-storied, a three stories Chinese restaurant and a

good number of makeshift buildings during five-hour drive beginning around 10

am.

Lieutenant Colonel Shah Ali, project director of CDA TK 5,616 crore mega

project, told journalists that the evection drive on the banks of 13 canals

including Chaktai, Birza, Rajakhali, Mirza, Hijra, Mohesh, Mariam, Bibi,

Khondakia, Kalabagicha, and Baromasi cannels began in July to remove water

logging from the city.

The drive will continue till December, he added.
