In their first match of the U-19 World Cup, Bangladesh lost their openers early against England.

The match started at 7 p.m. (Bangladesh time) in Basseterre, the capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first but the openers failed to impress with the bat as they departed within seven overs.

Mahfijul Islam scored three while the other opener Ariful Islam scored three. Both of them fell to Joshua Boyden.

Bangladesh are the current champions of the U-19 World Cup. In the previous edition of the U-19 World Cup, Bangladesh beat India in the final and clinched the title for the first time.

In the next two matches of the group stage, Bangladesh will take on Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

Right before the World Cup, Bangladesh took part in the U-19 Asia Cup. They ended up the event as the runners up. India won the Asia Cup beating the Tigers in the final.
