A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in Uttar Badda area of Dhaka on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Ava Akter Ava,13, a student of class V of Satarkul High School and daughter of Mohon Molla of Balakandi village of Sokhipur Upazila in Shariatpur district.
According to family, Ava took her life after an altercation with her younger brother Abid, 10, over a trifling matter.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy, said DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bacchu Mia.
