Former Australian pacer Shaun Tait has said he sees a great and exciting future for Bangladesh pace bowlers.

The former pacer is currently in Bangladesh to coach the pacers of Chattogram Challengers in the new season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) starting from January 21 in Dhaka.

The Challengers held their first official training session on Wednesday.

After the practice, Tait talked to the media and shared his thoughts about Bangladeshi pacers and their future.

“Bangladesh have some young cricketers who have the ability to become great cricketers in future,” he said. “We also have some of them. We have Shoriful (Islam) who is aggressive. He is could be an important part of our team in BPL. He already played enough cricket to prove his mettle. I’m so excited to work with them.”

He added that the next five-six years will be an exciting period for Bangladesh cricket.

Tait said he followed Shoriful’s bowling in the New Zealand series where the pacer played wonderfully well, and it was his maiden tour to New Zealand.

“It was a great tour for Bangladesh, and for Shorfiul as well. He loves to attack, and he is someone who you love to work with just after seeing him bowl and his concentration is key to attract you,” Tait added.

Tait also said he is interested to take on the role of Bangladesh’s bowling coach if he gets an offer.

BPL is all set to begin on Friday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. A total of six teams are taking part in this year’s BPL which will be played across three grounds in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.
