The Bangladesh Students’ Rights Council has demanded the arrest of Murad Hasan, who resigned as State Minister for Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday, for making derogatory remarks against women.

At the same time, the leaders of the organization demanded the recall of his parliamentary seat to ensure exemplary punishment.

They made the demand at a protest rally at TSC in Dhaka University around 4.30 pm on Tuesday.

Bin Yamir Mollah, the organisation’s president, said Murad Hasan had been punished for his derogatory remarks against women and Dhaka University. “He should resign immediately as MP. He should be arrested and given exemplary punishment so that no one like him can show audacity in future.”

“We are drawing the attention of the Prime Minister and the President in this regard,” he said.

The organization then carried out a procession starting from the TSC.

The protesters also demanded justice for BUET student Abrar Fahad. Besides, they also expressed their support for the ongoing safe road movement across the country.
