Narayanganj-4 MP Shamim Osman on Sunday hailed the fair and peaceful holding of Narayanganj City Corporation election as a big achievement.

After casting his vote at the last moment after 3pm Shamim said the election in Narayanganj was fair and disciplined. Even the candidates said they were satisfied with how peacefully the election underwent, he said.

He came to Adarsha School center by a rickshaw following election code, he said expressing his satisfaction by voting in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

“Saying election is turbulent has become a fashion of media” he remarked.

Replying to a question Shamim said, “For my whole life I have worked for the logo of AL not for the candidates and it’s not different this time too.”

“I am a soldier of Sheikh Hasina and she is my idol. I should be able to digest all the pain like her but I can’t do it every time. Hopefully AL will win a landslide in the NCC poll.”

The voting started at 8am and ended at 4pm. The vote counting is going on now.

Seven candidates are running for the post of the NCC mayor including ruling party nominee Selina Hayat Ivy and her principal rival independent Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker, who recently lost his post as an adviser to party boss Begum Khaleda Zia.
