On May 16, one Sahinuddin was publicly hacked to death in Pallabi over a land dispute. The six-year-old son of the deceased, Mashrafe, witnessed the incident.

Aklima Begum, the mother of Sahinuddin, claimed that her son was called out of his house and killed due to a dispute over land. She filed a murder case against 20 people including Awal at the Pallabi police station. The case was later handed over to the DB.

In the case statement, Aklima Begum mentioned that on May 16 at 4 pm, two young men named Sumon and Titu called Sahinuddin out of his home, saying that the land dispute he was involved in would be settled.

When Sahinuddin reached the meeting spot in Pallabi’s D-block on a motorcycle, 14-15 people including Sumon and Titu dragged him into the garage of the house (Hs #40, Rd 31).

Then in front of Sahinuddin’s six-year-old son Mashrafe, the miscreants hacked him with machetes and Chinese axes. He was then taken out of the house and hacked to death in front of house-36 of the area.

Aklima Begum alleged that her son had been killed by the managing director of Haveli Properties Developers Limited in Pallabi’s section-12, also ex-MP MA Awal, with the help of local miscreants as part of a dispute 10 acres of land worth Tk 5 crore.
