The Rajshahi University authority has decided to admit the children and grand-children of the university teachers and staff under ward quote, even if they could not secure the minimum marks to pass the entrance examinations.

According to the admission circular, the admission seekers must secure 40 marks out of 100 in the admission test to get admitted to the university.

According to the new decision, the admission seekers under the ward quota, who secured 30 out of 100 marks in the entrance exams, would be able to get admitted at the university.

The decision came from a meeting of the admission test sub-committee that was held on Monday where university vice-chancellor Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar chaired.

Agriculture faculty dean professor Abdul Alim said, A number of students cancel their admission at the university and get admitted to other universities, that’s why hundreds of seats are left vacant each year.

We have decided to include the admission seekers under ward quota to fill the vacant seats who secured at least 30 out of 100 marks in the entrance exams, he added.

A total of 1 lakh 27 thousand 647 applicants across the country applied for the admission test against around 4,137 seats in 59 departments and 2 institutes under three units, this year.
