Rohingya ‘drug peddler’ held with 600,000 yaba in Ukhia

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a suspected Rohingya drug trader along with 600,000 yaba pills from Ukhia Upazila in Cox’s Bazar early Saturday.

The arrestee is Mahaat Amin,18, son of Md Kalu of the Balukhali Block C-15 Rohingya camp.

Confirming the matter, senior assistant director ( Media) of RAB-15, Abu Salam Chowdhury said Mahaat Amin confessed to trading yaba for a long time, during primary interrogation.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted a drive in the area around 12:50 pm and arrested Mahaat Amin along with the Yaba tablets, he added.

However, some others managed to flee the scene.

Legal action is in process to be taken against Mahaat, the RAB official added.
