Popular Indian actor and model Sidharth Shukla died of a “massive heart attack” in the city of Mumbai on Thursday morning. He was 40.

Sidharth was rushed to Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital around 11am, following the heart attack at his home, and was declared dead on arrival, Dr Sukh Deve told the media.

“Though a initial medical report indicates that he died of a heart attack, we will still wait for his autopsy report,” another senior doctor told the local media.

Though Sidharth made his acting debut on small screen with the 2008 TV show ‘Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na’, he shot to fame for his role in the marathon Hindi tele-serial ‘Balika Vadhu’.

In 2014, the actor made his Bollywood debut in a cameo role in Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt-starter blockbuster ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. He also hosted several popular TV shows and was also the winner of reality show Bigg Boss 13.

A fitness freak, Sidharth was also a successful model. In 2005, he became the first Indian and Asian to win the World’s Best Model title, beating 40 participants in the contest held in Turkey.

Several Indian actors took to social media to pay tributes to the departed soul.

“OMG!!! This is So Shocking!!! Words will fail to describe the shock and sense of loss of his near and dear ones !!! May he rest in peace !!! No yaar !!!!” Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee tweeted.
