Hefazat secretary general Nurul Islam Jihadi dead at 73

Hefazat-e-Islam secretary general Nurul Islam Jihadi passed away Monday in Dhaka.

He breathed his last at Dhaka’s Labaid hospital, around 12 pm. He was 73.

His son Khaled Bin Noor confirmed this to UNB.

On Saturday night, Nurul Islam was admitted to Dhaka’s Labaid Hospital after he had a heart attack. As his condition deteriorated, he was put on life support the same night.

His namaj-e-janaza was held at the city’s Baitul Mokaram mosque.

He will be buried at Hathazari Madrasa graveyard tomorrow.

In 2020 December, Nurul Islam Jihadi was made the secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam following the death of Nur Hossain Kasemi.

He was born in 1948 at Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram.

After completing his education, he started his career as a teacher at Kaiyagram Madrasa under Patia.

In 1984, he founded Al Jamiatul Islamia Makhjanul Ulum in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area.

He was director general and Shaykhul Hadith of this madrasa until his death.
