The pandemic still continues to devastate many countries across the world. In fact, the global Covid-19 caseload has now topped 225 million.
The total caseload and fatalities from the virus stand at 225,234,746 and 4,639,112, respectively, as of Tuesday morning, according to Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
So far, 5,718,854,255 Covid vaccine doses have been administered across the globe.
The US has logged 41,213,908 cases and 662,016 deaths to date, according to the JHU data.
Brazil which has the world’s second-highest pandemic death toll after the United States and the third-largest caseload after the United States and India, recorded 21,006,424 cases with 587,066 fatalities as of Sunday.
India’s Covid-19 tally rose to 33,264,175 on Monday, as 27,254 new cases were registered in 24 hours across the country, as per the federal health ministry’s data.
Besides, as many as 219 deaths due to the pandemic were reported since Sunday morning, taking the total death toll to 442,874.
Most of the new cases and deaths were reported from the southern state of Kerala.
Situation in Bangladesh
Amid is efforts to limp back to normalcy, Bangladesh on Monday morning reported 41 new Covid deaths and 1,953 fresh cases in 24 hours.
The new cases were detected after testing 25,3888 samples, slightly pushing up the daily case positivity rate to 7.69% from Sunday’s 7.46%, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The fresh numbers took the country’s total fatalities to 26,972 while the cases reached 15,32,366, the DGHS said.
Besides, the recovery rate rose to 96.77% with the recovery of 4,112 more people.
The country has been seeing 53 deaths and 2,279 cases on an average over the last seven days.
This indicates that the pandemic in Bangladesh is easing after the highest-ever 264 coronavirus-related deaths in August and 16,230 single-day cases in July this year.
