Ex-IGP Hadis Uddin loses battle to Covid-19

Former Inspector General of Police(IGP) and freedom fighter Mohammad Hadis Uddin died of Covid-19 at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Saturday. He was 72.

He had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since July 26 and breathed his last at 12:30 pm.

Mohammad Hadis Uddin was born in 1949 at Mendipur village in Khaliajuri upazila of Netrakona district to an aristocratic Muslim family. He is survived by wife, two sons and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

He joined the Bangladesh Police in 1973 as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) . He served as the IGP from April 7, 2005 to May 7, 2005.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at Banani on Saturday morning.

He will be laid to eternal rest at the Banani Graveyard in the capital on Saturday night.
