Dhaka International Trade Fair begins Saturday in Purbachal

The 26th ‘Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2022’ will begin at ‘Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre’ in the capital’s Purbachal area from Saturday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the fair virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban tomorrow.

This fair is jointly organized by the Commerce Ministry and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

This year 23 pavilions, 27 mini pavilions, 162 stalls and 15 food stalls have been leased to various local and international organisations.

Meanwhile, President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today issued separate messages about the 26th DITF-2022.

In his message, President Abdul Hamid has welcomed all the entrepreneurs from home and abroad participating in this 26th DITF.

He said this type of international trade fair is essential for our export products and market diversification. In order to achieve economic prosperity to build the Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the arrangement of such trade events on a regular basis will leave worthwhile contributions, the president added.

Moreover, this year’s trade fair has got some added importance for the Golden Jubilee of our Independence, said Abdul Hamid. “I think this fair will enhance the trade relations of our country with the rest of the world.”

On the other hand, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said, “I am happy to know that the month-long 26th ‘Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2022’ is being organized at the newly constructed Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center.

She said the event will create ample opportunities for the local and overseas exhibitors to showcase their competitive advantages and innovative products to the customers.

At the same time, buyers will get the opportunity to purchase the products at a competitive price from this mega-event, Sheikh Hasina added.

She also said that local entrepreneurs will be able to improve the quality of their products as per the need and will be able to compete in international trade by participating in this fair.

She said the world has experienced severe setbacks in trade and commerce during the last two years of the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic.

Sheikh Hasina said, “But our government has taken a timely and well thought-out decision, and given stimulus packages to the exporters to enhance the business activities which led to restoration of export momentum.”

Sheikh Hasina finally expressed hope that DITF-2022 will be able to beget deep interest and enthusiasm in this auspicious moment of the 50th anniversary of independence and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation.
