Computer hardware worth Tk 8.19 lakh stolen from Manikganj DYD

Computer hardware worth Tk 8.19 lakh has been stolen from the computer lab and trainer’s room at Manikganj district Department of Youth Development (DYD).

Processors and RAMs of 39 computers were stolen Friday night from the fourth floor of the company’s district office in Ghior upazila.

Alka Prabha Dey, deputy director of Manikganj DYD, said Friday and Saturday were public holidays. “Sunday, I came to the office and found that 39 computer processors and RAMs had been stolen from two rooms.”

CCTV footage showed two young men entering the room around 2.30 am on Saturday and leaving with the stolen hardware at 4.30 am, he added

DYD deputy director lodged a complaint with Ghior police station in this regard.

Additional Superintendent of Police Tania Sultana of Shibalaya Circle visited the spot.

Ghior Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Riaz Uddin Ahmed Biplob said there was no night guard or watchman in the office. A helper cum guard was there that night, but he could not say anything about it as he was asleep.

Legal action will be taken after investigation, he said.
