Chapainawabganj road crash leaves 2 dead

At least two people were killed and two others injured as a three wheeler was hit by a truck in Kansat Bazar in Chapainawabganj’s Shibganj upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Harun ,26 of Pardilalpur area of the upazila and Renuara Begum ,55, wife of Abu Sayed of Dhobra area.

Shibganj Fire Service acting station officer Siraj Uddin said, the Sonamasjid land port-bound truck hit the three wheeler while it was waiting for passengers on the road, leaving two passengers dead and two others injured.

The injured passengers were rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex.

Shibganj Police Station OC Farid Hossain said, on information police went to the spot and sent the bodies to the morgue after recovering those.

Road accidents are common in Bangladesh, and claim a number of lives every year.

During the last Eid-ul-Fitr holiday rush, road accidents claimed 323 lives in just 15 days, according to Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Shamiti, a human rights body.
