Bangabandhu an icon for the youth: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman remains an icon for youth, vigor and vitality in building ‘Sonar Bangla’.

“Bangabandhu remains an icon for youth, vigor and vitality in building his ‘Sonar Bangla’ together with the youths of Bangladesh,” he said.

The role of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) has been decisive for a successful completion of ‘Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020” programmes which helped in furthering the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Foreign Minister made the remarks while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Dhaka OIC Youth Capital.

On the sideline of the event, President of ICYF Taha Ayhan called on the Foreign Minister.

While thanking the President of ICYF for their effort and cooperation for the successful journey of the entire “Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020” programmes including the grand closing ceremony, he hoped that the recognition of laudable activities of the youths would encourage them to contribute more for the well-being of the society.

The Foreign Minister Momen also stressed the importance of more engagement activities among the youth of the Muslim Ummah to share their knowledge and expertise.

On December 25, 2019, Bangladesh was declared as the OIC Youth Capital 2020 and the programme was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 27 July 2020.

Bangladesh organized a series of successful yearlong programmes of the OIC Youth Capital arranged by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and eight other ministries which is rounded off by the Gala closing ceremony on 30 December 2021.
