Bangabandhu 30th Nat’l Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Championship begins Friday

Bangabandhu 30th National Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Championship, 2021, organized on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman, begins on Friday (October 22) at Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming pool in Mirpur.

Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF) and chairman of the meet’s sponsor Max Group Golam Mohammad Alamgir will inaugurate the three-day competition.

State Minister for Youth and Sports M Zahid Ahsan Russell MP will be the chief guest at the closing function on Sunday (October 24).

BSF general secretary MB Saif disclosed the details of the meet at a press conference at the Dutch-Bangla Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympics Association (BOA) here on Thursday. Executive Director and CEO of Max Group Kazi Yeaminur Rashid Turjo was also present on the occasion.

Some 564 swimmers and officials from 65 teams including BKSP, Army, Navy, Air Force and Police are expected to participate in the meet.

Thirty eight swimming events—19 for the men’s and 19 for women’s, three diving events and a Water Polo competition will be held during the three-day meet.

The team event champions and runners-up of swimming and the champions, runners-up of Water Polo competition will be given trophies, best men’s and women’s swimmers will be awarded with crests while new record holders swimmers will also be awarded.

Twelve events will be finalized on the opening day (Friday).
