Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) said it was shocked and saddened by the killing of civil leader Mohib Ullah by assailants in a refugee camp in Bangladesh.

“It is time for bringing the criminals to account instead of finger-pointing with baseless and hearsay accusations,” ARSA said Friday in a statement, blaming the shooting on “transnational border-based criminals.”

Mohib, who was chair of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights, was shot dead Wednesday by unknown gunmen in the Kutupalong refugee camp of Cox’s Bazar.

He led one of the largest of several community groups to emerge since more than 7 lakh Rohingya people fled Myanmar after a military crackdown in August 2017.
