Women’s Football: Bashundhara Kings emerge champions with one match left

Star-studded Bashundhara Kings clinched the seven-team Tricotex Women’s Football League 2019-20 title on Sunday with one match to play.

They crushed Jamalpur Kacharipara Ekadash with a 13-1 goal win at the Kamalapur Stadium featuring five goals by national team forward Sabina Khatun.

Also, striker Tohura grabbed a treble while Shopna struck two goals. And Nargis, Maria and Sheuli netted one each for the champions.

However, Asha of Kings scored an own goal, a consolation for Jamalpur.

After the day’s match, Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league table, securing full 33 points from 11 straight matches while their nearest rival Nasrin Sports Academy bagged 24 points from 10.

Kings will play their last match against FC Uttar Bongo on Wednesday, the result of which will not change the league title winner.

In the day’s other match, Spartan MK Gallactico Sylhet beat Begum Anwara SC by 3-0 goals at the same venue in the morning.

Bonnya scored two and Ruksana netted one for the winners.
