Haji Badiul Alam, the father of UNB’s senior reporter Abdur Rahman Jahangir, died at a city hospital on Monday.
The 97-year-old had long been suffering from lung infection and other old-age complications. He breathed his last at People’s Hospital in city’s Khilgaon area around 1:25pm.
Alam left behind his wife, four sons, three daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
He will be buried at their family graveyard at Musapur village in Noakhali’s Companiganj upazila after Esha prayers following his namaz-e-janaza.
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has mourned the death of Haji Alam.
In a condolence message, Fakhrul said Haji Badiul Alam was respected by everyone in his locality. The BNP leader offered condolences and prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul.
The Dhaka Reporters’ Unity has also expressed shock at the passing away of Jahangir’s father.
