Take steps to ensure justice for litigants, President to judges

President Abdul Hamid called upon the judges to take appropriate steps to ensure justice through the use of information technology to reduce the suffering of the litigants in the current corona situation.

The President made the call when a delegation of judges led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain called on the President at Bangabhaban on Wednesday.

The delegation submitted the ‘Annual Report 2019 of the Supreme Court’ to the President.

During the meeting, the Chief Justice briefed the President on various aspects of the annual report.

The Chief Justice also briefed the President on the overall activities of the Supreme Court, especially those of the lower courts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The President thanked all concerned including the officers and employees of the Judiciary for conducting the trial proceedings in a virtual manner during the Corona period.

He said many officials and employees of the judiciary have been infected with Cpvid-19 and many of them died.

While talking about the golden jubilee of the country’s independence which falls on next year, the President hoped that the judiciary would be able to reach the benefits of independence to the doorsteps of people.

Secretary to the President’s Office Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Shamim- Uz- Zaman, Press Secretary to the President Md. Joynal Abedin, Secretary ( attached) Md. Wahidul Islam Khan were present on the occasion.
