Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep sorrow at the death of former state minister AKM Zahangir Hossain.
Zahangir tested Covid-19 positive and died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
The 66-year-old Awami League leader was elected member of parliament for Patuakhali-3 constituency four times.
In a condolence message, Sheikh Hasina recalled the struggles and organisational skills of Zahangir, also former general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, in establishing Bangabandhu’s ideology.
Sheikh Hasina said, “A vacuum has been created in the political arena with the death of Zahangir Hossain.”
She prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to his family.
