Phones, gold seized worth Tk2 crore at Shahjalal Airport

Airport Armed Police (AAP) detained five passengers and seized gold ornaments and bars of 2.675 kg and 92 mobile phones on Saturday.

The market price of the goods is estimated at around Tk2 crore.

The five passengers got caught as they were about to leave the Green Channel of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

They were identified as Amir Hussain, 50, Mahbub Rahman,35, Abdur Rahman Sarkar,46, Zakir Hussain, 30, and Abdur Rahman, 38.

The five passengers arrived at the airport from Dubai on an Emirates flight at around 5am, sources said

When they were crossing the Green channel of Customs hall, the AAP members stopped them, Md Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent of police at AAP, said.

“They recovered gold ornaments, bars, and 92 mobile sets from the five passengers.”
