Anti-Corrupion Commission (ACC) on Monday arrested two auditors involved with Pirojpur District Primary Education Office for demanding bribes in exchange for favourable audit reports.
The members of the audit team who came to the Pirojpur District Primary Education Office for audit activities are demanding bribe from the Upazila Education Officers.
The victims complained to the ACC Complaint Center (Hotline-106) that they are being forced to pay.
Immediately after receiving the complaint, the ACC enforcement unit directed the Integrated District Office, Barisal to conduct an enforcement operation on the complaint.
In this regard, the enforcement team led by Deputy Director of Barisal District Office Debabrata Mandal conducted a raid today in the concerned department and where the members of the audit team wre staying.
In the presence of neutral witnesses, the ACC team recovered more thanTK 4 lakh from Audit and Accounts Officer Mohammad Shamim Hossain and SAS Superintendent Mohammad Zaheer Raihan from the rest house where the members of the audit team were staying in Pirojpur.
The arrested officials failed to provide an explanation for the source of the money to the ACC team.
Preparations are underway to file a case against them under the relevant section of the ACC schedule as it was initially proved to the ACC team that the money was taken as bribe.
