Bangladesh will award gold medals to two diplomats – one Bangladeshi and another foreign one – through a special ceremony, says Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Sunday.
He said though two diplomats will be awarded this year for their significant contributions to Bangladesh but the number will be increased in the future.
Secretary (Maritime Affairs Unit) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rear Admiral (Retd) Md Khurshed Alam and former Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Bangladesh Saed Mohammed Almheiri will receive the medal this year.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken the initiative to encourage foreigners to work in Bangladesh and to contribute to the betterment of the country apart from encouraging the local diplomats.
