Four matches of the Independence Day Handball
competition (man and woman) were decided on the second day (Monday) at
Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.
In the day’s men’s division matches, Border Guard Bangladesh beat
Chapainawabganj District Sports Association (DSA) by 46-21 goals after
leading the first half by 21-7 goals while Bangladesh Police Handball Club
defeated Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party by 37-31 goals after
dominating the first half by 19-13 goals.
In the women’s division matches, Bangladesh Police Handball Club beat
Nasrul Hamid Sports Academy by 56-8 goals after leading the first half by 31-
1 goals while Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party outclassed Jamalpur
Sports Academy by 37-21 goals after dominating the first half by 22-10 goals.
A total of nine teams including five of men’s and four of women’s are
taking part in the eight-day meet, organised by Bangladesh Handball
The competition is being held marking the birth centenary of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Men’s teams: Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party, Chapainawabganj
District Sports Association, Dhaka Divisional Sports Association, Border
Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Police Handball Club
Women’s teams: Bangladesh Ansar, Bangladesh Police Handball Club, Jamalpur
Sports Academy and Nasrul Hamid Sports Academy.
