Bangladesh right-arm spinner sustained a blow on his right little finger which casts a shadow over his participation in the West Indies series at home taking palace in January.
Nayeem, who was representing Beximco Dhaka in Bangabandhu T20 Cup, picked up the blow while diving to contain a boundary in the match against Gemcon Khulna. He was the 12th man in the match.
Debashis Chowdhury, the chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), told the media that the blow might need an operation, but it’s not confirmed yet.
“We have already taken an appointment of a specialist to talk about the next course of action about his injury. Since we have found a fracture, it’s a matter of concern and it might require him a surgery,” he told the media.
Due to this blow, Nayeem might be sidelined during the home series against West Indies, though, the series is uncertain.
The delegation of West Indies has recently toured Bangladesh to observe the safety protocol which BCB will provide the West Indies team during the series.
The two-member delegation has expressed their happiness after the visit. But the final call will be made the Cricket West Indies. Before that, they’ll talk to the members of the team.
