Dhaka seeks Doha’s urgent step to help Bangladeshis return, join work

Bangladesh has sought urgent action from Qatar to help Bangladeshis return to the country and join work highlighting the difficulties including financial distress being faced by the stranded Bangladeshis.

Bangladesh Ambassador to State of Qatar Md. Jashim Uddin made the request at a meeting with Chief of Protocol Ambassador Ibrahim Fakhroo on Monday.

Ambassador Fakhroo immediately took actions to draw the attention of the concerned authorities of the Government of Qatar, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues pertaining to the interest of the expatriate Bangladeshis in Qatar.

The meeting also stressed the need for holding the next round of Foreign Office Consultations and exchange of high-level visits to further strengthen the existing excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Qatar.

Among other issues, they also discussed topics relating to consular services, administrative matters and chancery infrastructure, particularly the designated parking space for the consular service receivers at the Embassy.

The meeting was also attended by Md. Mahbur Rhaman, Counsellor (Political and Economic Affairs) from the Embassy.
