South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun and Association of Koreans in Bangladesh President Ryu Yong-O on Monday held a virtual meeting with Shuchona Foundation Chairperson Saima Wazed Hossain and conveyed Association’s donation plan of Tk 10 lakh.
The donation was collected from its members to help the Bangladesh people, particularly those with disabilities and in needs of support, said a media release.
The Korean Association will soon visit the Shuchona Foundation for handing over the Tk 900,000 in cash and Tk 100,000 worth of Walton TV.
Founded in 1978 at the beginning of the Korean settlement in Bangladesh, the Koreans Association in Bangladesh has played an important role in advancing and strengthening the Republic of Korea and Bangladesh’s relations.
In the unprecedented situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Korean Association has made a fresh campaign to show its solidarity with Bangladesh local communities by providing emergency food packages, medicine, Covid-19 PPEs, and other items and equipment to help those in needs.
In December 2020, the Association donated PPEs and stationery to the students of Sarkari Shishu Paribar(girls) in Tejgaon, Dhaka, and delivered 10 lakh TK worth of food and clothing through Dhaka North City Corporation.
The Association of Koreans in Bangladesh, working closely with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh, will continue to play a constructive role in strengthening the ties between the two countries, particularly by extending its solidarity with the Bangladesh local community.
