3 state banks got new managing directors

The government has appointed new managing directors in three state-owned specialized banks.

Ismail Hossain, MD of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank has been made MD of Bangladesh Krishi Bank. Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of Karmasangsthan Bank has been made the MD of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank.

The government has suspended LPR of Shirin Akhtar, MD of Krishi Bank, and made her the managing director of Karmasangsthan Bank for two years.

On Sunday, the Financial Institutions Division of the Finance Ministry issued two notifications regarding the three appointments.

According to the circular, Shirin Akhtar, as per Section 49 of the Public Service Act 2017, on condition of suspension of PRL, and she was given a contractual appointment for two years from the date of joining as MD of Karmasangsthan Bank.

Ismail Hossain, MD of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank and Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of Karmasangsthan Bank have been transferred from their current posts to Bangladesh Krishi Bank and Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank respectively till further orders.

Shirin Akhtar went on retirement leave on December 14 while serving as the MD of Krishi Bank. She was made managing director of the bank in September this year.

Shirin Akhtar was the first woman banker to become the managing director of a state-owned bank in the country.
