On the occasion, Mayor Basudev Thapa argued that the bridge was built for tourism promotion
and hence a fee was charged for those using it. This is as provided by the Local Government Operation Act, he said.
It was shared on the occasion that the municipality had awarded a contract of Rs 3.4 million in the financial year 079/080 and Rs 3.9 million for the financial year 080/081 to collect fees from people using the bridge.
However, Mayor Thapa said that the residents of the two wards have been given free entry and 50 per cent discount for the residents of Suryabinayak municipality.
