RCC approves Tk 1,080.22-cr proposed budget for 2021-22

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has approved its annual proposed budget of Taka 1,080.22 crore for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

The city corporation approved the budget through an emergency general meeting held at its city bhaban conference hall with RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton in the chair today.

The meeting was told that the target of the current 2020-21 fiscal year’s budget was around Taka 996.79 crore and the budget was revised at around Taka 561.23 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, city Mayor Liton said the city corporation has already embarked upon a TK 1175.52 project for  construction of  five more flyovers and 19  infrastructures soon  for overall development  of the city .

The flyovers will be constructed with an estimated cost of around TK  821.93 crore, while the infrastructures at TK  353.59 crore as part of  RCC’s TK 2,993-crore project titled ‘Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development in Rajshahi City’.

Mayor Liton said the Rajshahi city will get a new look upon successful implementation of the project scheduled to be implemented by June, 2024.

Giving an overview of the mega project along with its objectives and implementation process he said: “We are working relentlessly to make the city green, habitable and self-reliant”.

Earlier, the city corporation has constructed a 202.5-meter flyover along with a 120-meter ramp at Budhpara Railway crossing with an estimated cost of TK 29.28 crore for the first time in Rajshahi city.

The flyover has been constructed on a 6.793-kilometer east-west four-lane connecting road that has been constructed at a cost of TK 189.34-crore project.

Panel Mayors Shariful Islam Babu and Rajab Ali, Ward Councilor Abdul Hamid Sarker, Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin and Secretary Moshiur Rahman were present at the meeting.
