Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested three convicted accused, two for death and one for 30 years in imprisonment, who fled from the jails, in Jashore, Barishal and Sherpur districts.
“We arrested a Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) soldier Saiful Islam, Sohel Rana and Ahmed Ali from Jashore, Satmail area of Barishal and Nalitabari of Sherpur district this afternoon,” RAB media and legal wing director Lt Col Munim Ferdous told BSS today.
Saiful was a death row convict in a case filed in connection with the BDR mutiny while Sohel was another death row convict and Ahmed was sentenced for 30 years in imprisonment in a rape case, he said.
The RAB officer said Saiful and Shole fled from Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur district and Ahmed from Sherpur Jail in the recent jail break attempt following the student-people movement.
RAB earlier arrested two death row convicts, Shah Alam and Firoz Mia, from Kishoreganj Sadar and Dhaka’s Dhamrai areas on Friday and Sunday. Both fled from the Kashimpur
High Security Central Jail.
Lt Col Munim Ferdous told BSS that they are now in hot pursuit to apprehend the death row and life term awarded convicts, who fled from various jails in recent attempts of prison break.
