Porwar demands trial of persons involved in burning bodies

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Prof Mia Golam Porwar today demanded trial of those involved in killings during the student-people movement and burning the bodies aimed at concealing those.

‘Trial of the people involved in mass killing, indiscriminate firing and burning down the dead bodies, must be held. We want exemplary punishment of the responsible persons,’ he said in a views-exchange meeting with the families of six martyrs during student-people movement in Gaibandha district, a press release here said.

He said the people of the country would not forgive them for committing genocide, hanging Jamaat leaders to death and committing enforced disappearances of many people.

The senior Jamaat leader said the evil force which was defeated on August 5, 2024 is out to hatch conspiracy to let loose riots between the Hindus and Muslim despite the fact is that defeated force is largely responsible for most of the tortures on Hindus in the country.

‘We will resist their conspiracy with the support of the peopl
e,’ he said.

Assistant secretary general of the Jamaat, Maulana Abdul Halim said all political parties except the fascist Awami League took part in the anti-discrimination student-people uprising that led to ouster of Sheikh Hasina regime.

‘The students have saved the countrymen from a dire situation,’ he said.

The Jamaat’s Secretary General consoled the members of the bereaved families and handed over Taka one lakh to each family.

Gaibandha district Ameer of Jamaat Md Abdul Karim presided over the meeting while secretary general Zohurul Haque Sarker was the moderator, the press release said.
