Physician dies of electrocution in Mymensingh

A doctor died from electrocution while charging a mobile phone in Mymensingh city on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Torikul Islam Noman, 42, hailed from the area in Mymensingh town. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Mymensingh Sadar Model Thana Md Shafiqul Islam said the incident occurred at around 4 am when he was charging his mobile phone. Tariqul Alam Noman returned home after an operation around midnight. While he was connecting mobile phone charger at his home, he came in contact with an electric wire, leaving him seriously injured.

Family members rescued him and took him to the hospital but the duty doctors declared him dead, the OC added.
