Organization unity essential in party: Pokharel


CPN (UML) general-secretary Shankar Pokharel emphasized on organizational unity within the party.

Addressing the fourth meeting of the All Nepal Women’s Association convened at headquarter at Chyasal, Lalitpur today, he claimed that the problems facing the party could be only addressed through organizational unity.

Calling for unity among the leaders and cadres of all level to unify to further strengthening the party, he assured that the party leadership was ready to facilitate this process.

Highlighting the importance of annual agenda and action-plan to make the party a decisive force, he viewed that such party activities should reached out to every human settlements in rural and urban places.

Pokharel informed that his party is going to organize a youth summit for the youths below 40 years. Stating that his party forged a coalition with the Nepali Congress to amend constitution, to achieve political stability and to strengthen economic condition, he urged one and all to understand it in this light and
make others take cognizance of it accordingly.

“The current political equation has been formed after reviewing the strength and weakness of the 10 years since the constitution was promulgated to ensure political stability. The collaborative government will move forward by addressing issues such as social disorder, economic crisis and peace process,” he said.

Noting the complexity of forming a coalition government with biggest parties in the parliament, he clarified that such partnership was forged for political stability.

He mentioned the effectiveness of the incumbent government’s performance in terms of rise in revenue collection, foreign investment and remittance. Although the country is not free from crisis, there were certainly signs of improvement in the situation, he remarked.

Similarly, UML Standing Committee member Bhanubhakta Dhakal called for constitutional amendment to ensure at least 50 per cent representation of women in all sectors including State apparatus.
