Kathmandu: Nepal Congress (NC) has decided to take a lead role in carrying out rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the disaster-hit communities by coordinating with the local government.
NC’s district and local level committees would hold their meetings to conduct the designated tasks in the disaster-hit areas.
Monday’s meeting of the NC’s Committee on Coordination for Relief and Rehabilitation of Floods and Landslides Victims presided over by party General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa decided to coordinate with the stakeholders for the initiatives, NC party’s Officiating Chief Secretary Dr Pradip Parajuli said.
Likewise, the meeting decided to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister on behalf of the NC to immediately carry out government interventions for rescue, relief, security and rehabilitation jobs in the wake of people’s suffering from the disasters.
Similarly, the local levels led by the NC’s representatives would be made proactive to expedite and effectively implement the rehabilitation jobs as
well as construct the temporary settlement to the victims.
The NC would also provide technical assistance in the landslide and flood-affected areas by forming the experts’ group with representatives from the party-aligned engineers’ association.
Relief materials would be availed and health camps would also be run in the communities, it is said.
