NC demands government intensify post-disaster response

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) has drawn the government’s attention towards an urgency to intensify a search operation for those who have gone missing in monsoon-induced disasters.

A meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) central work execution committee today demanded the government ensure free treatment to those injured in the disasters.

Party Acting Chief Secretary Dr Pradeep Parajuli told the RSS that the meeting urged the government to intensify its response to the disasters and their consequences.

The meeting also sought the government’s intervention in the potentiality of the flourishing of food supplies on the black market and irregularities in transport fares amidst the adverse situation.

Considering the national crisis in the wake of the natural disaster, the party has decided to postpone the 100-day party special campaign programme till Kojagrat Purnima, (mid-October), the last day of the Dashain festival.

In addition to this, the meeting decided to focus its central representatives on the p
ost-disaster response in their respective areas, calling upon the party peoples’ representatives at all levels, party candidates in the elections, party cadres, and well-wishers to dedicate time for the rescue ad relief efforts in the wake of the disasters.
