Narayan Chandra sued over abduction in Khulna


A case was filed against former Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda for abducting a woman.

Salma Akter, daughter of Md Afsar Golzer, hailed from Cheruri village under Dumuria upazila in Khulna, filed a case accusing ex-minister Narayan Chandra Chanda, ex-Dumuria Upazila Parishad Chairman Gazi Ezaz Ahmad and 16 others.

The Judge of the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act, Abdus Salam Khan, passed the order accepting the complaint and directed the Sonadanga Police Station to register it as a case.

According to case statement, former UP Chairman of Dumuria Ezaz Ahmad sexually harassed and raped the victim several times last year alluring of marrying her.

On January 27 this year, Ezaz called on the victim assuring her that he would marry her. When the victim reached there, Ezaz and along with his cohorts confined and raped her in a room.

Salma was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) at the same night.

On the next day, Gazi Towhid Ahmad, cousin of Ezaz Ahmad who is also an accused
in the case and other accused abducted Salma and her mother Fatema Begum by a microbus as the KMCH authority forcibly released them following the order of ex-MP Narayan Chandra Chanda.
