Kathmandu: Aimed at collecting data from local and province levels on the loss and damage caused due to landslides and flooding, the CPN (Maoist Centre) has decided to establish a ‘Help Desk’ at the party central office.
A meeting of the party central office bearers held this evening at the residence of CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ decided to provide financial assistance to the victims from the party members and people’s representatives elected from the Maoist Centre.
Likewise, the party has decided to orient the party organization in relief and reconstruction works.
Similarly, the party decided to raise voices for sustainable resettlement of the victims and reconstruction of the damaged physical infrastructure.
Maoist Centre Spokesperson and Vice Chairman Agni Prasad Sapkota said that the country witnessed massive loss of human lives and properties due to poor assessment of risk identification and preparedness.
Earlier, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Prachanda felicitated Ch
aniklal Tamang, one who rescued two persons from swollen Nakkhukhola on September 28, by receiving Tamang at his residence in Khumaltar.
Tamang had rescued and saved 43-year-old Raju Sah and his six years old daughter Meghna as they were being swept away some 500 metres in the swollen Nakkhukhola (river).
Currently, Raju and his daughter Meghna are receiving treatment at Patan Hospital.
On the occasion, the former Prime Minister congratulated and thanked Tamang for saving lives and humanity.
“I have been closely watching the incident. You have received appreciation at home and abroad. I am much elated also to learn that you are affiliated our party’s (Maoist Centre’s) youth organization,” Prachanda said.
Tamang is a permanent resident of Choktar in Temal Rural Municipality-9 in Kavre district.
