Kathmandu: The House of Representatives (HoR) today recalled the contribution of Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairperson Subas Chandra Nembang in drafting the present constitution. Today marks Nembang’s first death anniversary.
Chief Whip of the CPN (UML) Mahesh Bartaula said the role of Nembang in the historic constriction drafting was significant and his contribution to the constitution-making and Nepal’s parliamentary system would remain unforgotten.
Shanti Pariyar said the country lost a significant personality with the passing of Nembang.
Also at the meeting, Bartaula expressed his concern over the death of a 12-year-old girl student after she was swept away by a river at Manahari rural municipality in Makwanpur while she was on the way home from school. The victim is Ranjita Gurung and she was a seventh grader at the United Boarding School at Manahari rural municipality-7.
Likewise, Pairyar urged Deputy Speaker Indira Rana to pave the way after being landed in a controversy.
Bhagawati Chaudhary drew
the government’s attention towards ‘mismanagement’ in the operation of the blood bank run by the Nepal Red Cross Society.
Similarly, demanding time in the meeting, Amritlal Rajbanshi expressed his concern over a delay in completing a major bridge measuring around 720 meters in length under the Postal Highway over the Kanakai Mai River in Jhapa.
Arjun Narsingh KC urged the government to stop police intervention in the hunger strike launched by Koshi Province’s former Chief Minister, Hikmat Karki, and to find a solution through a consensus.
Ashok Kumar Chaudhary accused that voices demanding the registration of Deputy Speaker Rana are politically motivated.
Asma Kumari Chaudhary demanded the incorporation of the various cultural festivals of the Tharu community in the National Calendar, urging the State to treat all cultures and traditions equally.
Asim Shah demanded an implementation of the Constitutional provision of a free education in the practice while Ishwor Bahadur Rijal drew the government’s attent
ion towards a delay in constructing the Narayanghat-Butwal road section.
Urmila Majhi also called for mending the damaged roads in different parts of the country given the upcoming Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals.
Ishwori Gharti, Eknath Dhakal, Kalpana Chaudhary, Kaluram Rai, Kusum Devi Thapa, Kiran Kumar Shah, Krishna Kumar Shrestha, Ganesh Parajuli, Goma Sapkota, Chandra Bahadur Bishwakarma, and Ambar Bahadur Thapa among others raised the contemporary issues in the meeting.
