Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has said that Nepal is committed to work in keeping with the vision of the Asian Collaborative Dialogue for promoting happiness and peace, and prosperity in the Asian nations.
Minister Rana, who is in the Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to the 79th United Nations General Assembly, said this while addressing the Ministerial Meeting on Thursday.
“We have been facing challenges due to the climate change which we had never come across in the past in our common home- the Earth. This is an issue that needs to be immediately addressed,” she said.
Stressing on the need of international support to Nepal for tackling climate change challenges, she said collaboration at all levels was required to reduce the catastrophe to humanity by addressing the increasing incidences of floods and landslides and the damage to infrastructures resulting from the environmental impact on the Himalayas.
Minister Rana said that how the Asian countries tackle such ch
allenges by devising a common strategy would measure the utility of the Asian Collaboration Dialogue. She emphasized that our vision and commitment should be a means for Asia and the world to face up to the common challenges.
Nepal has been participating in the Asian Collaboration Dialogue since 2016.
