Health and Family Welfare Senior Secretary MA Akmal Hossain today said the draft of Health Protection Law will be sent to the Cabinet Division by the next Sunday.
“Research was done on the law in the last 12 years. But now, we are sending the law to the Cabinet Division within 24 days after taking charges,” he said at a press conference held at the meeting room of his ministry at the secretariat here.
He said the sub-committee of Cabinet Division has the right to change the bill. “If they want they can send it back to us. So far, I’ve understood that the bill was not sent to the Cabinet Division for bureaucratic indecision,” he added.
Replying to a query, the senior secretary said over 700 people were killed and about 19,000 others were injured during the anti-discrimination movement. The Health Ministry has taken steps to provide proper treatment to the injured people, he added.
He said a committee has been formed to know about how many people were killed and injured in the movement.
